This week’s spotlight is a 3-for-1! MSSPA is privileged to welcome three new staff members, all in the special education department. Scott Guggenberger, paraprofessional, Laura Pfandler, Special Education teacher and case manager, and Mary Stewart, paraprofessional, have already made a great impact on the school community and have been impacted themselves.
Ms. Pfandler regularly meets with students to ensure they are as successful as can be. Before starting at MSSPA this year, she worked in St. Paul Public Schools. Prior to that, she earned her bachelor’s degree in education from San Francisco State; she still misses the crashing waves and warm sun, so she spends her Minnesota winters watching re-runs of Hawaii Five-O!
Scott Guggenberger holds a degree in Physical Education and Health from University of St. Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Having taught physical education and served as a dean of students, Scott is excited to be at Main Street to see how students can develop and showcase their unique abilities.
Mary Stewart, in addition to her work as a paraprofessional, is studying to become an art therapist, already having degrees in Clinical Psychology and Studio Art from Augsburg College. She teaches comic book drawing classes and loves cats and coffee.
