Main Street School of Performing Arts is in its third year of the Quality Compensation Program. The Quality Compensation Program, or Q Comp, is a state-administered program run through the Minnesota Department of Education meant to increase student performance by strengthening the quality of teaching in schools across the state.
As part of this year's Q Comp program, staff members have set a number of school-wide goals for the academic year. First, Main Street will continue to increase its standardized test scores in reading by 2% for each student in the school, as measured by the annual NWEA test. Additionally, staff members will administer a series of vocabulary tests across the curriculum throughout the year. The aim of each vocabulary test is to increase student fluency in individual subject areas. Because the school also focuses on the performing arts, Homeroom teachers will ensure that at least 80% of their Homeroom students perform for the school community by the end of the school year. Finally, all participating staff members will be formally observed three times during the school year by Q Comp mentor teachers. This year's mentor teachers include Steve Cullison, Cassy Schauwitzer, and Betsy Maloney. The Q comp program provides money to increase professional development around test-taking strategies as well as bonuses for staff members who meet Q comp goals throughout the year.

All shows start at 7:00 p.m.
